To protest the Matthew Shepard Act, a group of religious leaders spoke in front of the Department of Justice. They claimed the act limited their right to free speech and aimed to get arrested. This is one of the fear-mongering technique these people are using. The followers of these leaders will believe the act actually does limit free speech instead of reading the actual bill.

During the protest, the speakers continually told us to get out of the way and threatened to call the police standing a few feet away over, but we were not breaking any rules. Also, they claimed to “like” our free speech and that this was an open discussion, but when we held our press conference just after, they refused to listen to us.
